Alton Walter Shady  of Waterford passed away October 14, 2018 at the age of 80. Alton was the son of the late Glenn and Cora Shady, beloved husband of Barbara Shady and father of Alton Glenn Shady (Cheryl) and Kenneth Alva Shady (Shellie). He is also survived by his loving 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren as well as his siblings, Vera Kunnath (Bill) and David Shady (Judy). He was preceded in death by his brothers Bruce, Martin, and Frank Shady. Born April 25, 1938 in the town of Newberry in the U.P., Alton was an avid sportsman and loved the outdoors. He married his high school sweetheart on May 23, 1959 and they enjoyed 59 years of marriage. Mr. Shady faithfully served as a member of the National Guard for over 10 years, owned and operated ServiceMaster Tri-County for over 40 years and was a faithful family man and friend. He was a member of Union Lake Baptist Church for 25 years where he served as custodian several years. At the time of his passing he attended Oxbow Lake Baptist Church.
Alton was well known as a man who was quick to serve and lend a hand to those in need. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren with him when he was able. A man of few words but a big heart he will be fondly remembered by his family and friends.
A celebration of Alton’s life will be held Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Donelson, Johns and Evans Funeral Home, Waterford, MI. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. at the funeral home and the service will be held there at 11 a.m. with Pastor Wayne DeVerna officiating. There will be a luncheon following the service at Oxbow Lake Baptist church. Interment in Southfield Cemetery will be at 3:00 p.m.
